Swine Flu

Is it too much to ask for full disclosure from our local authorities,
Recently in a Paterson, NJ public school there was a 32 student outbreak of the influenza
virus. There was no public service announcement nor was there any actual information that
was to be dispersed to the public.

I personally have a vested interest in what goes on in P.S. #28

My wife has been employed by the Paterson school district for a number of years in the school's
food services division "Cafeteria".

I was really surprised that I personally had to inform her what was going on in the school
where she worked.

Needless to say not one individual from the school's administration had the decensy to inform
the staff that there was a potential health hazard in their work environment.

Fortunately, this was a mild influenza outbreak and was nothing more serious.

We as a people need to join our forces together and let our local officials know that it is not
acceptable to withhold any information about potential hazards to our childrens
or our spouses welfare.

I take offense to the lack of factual information, The public should not have to rely on
conjecture, inuindo, or rumor.

Speaking as a healthcare worker, the public needs factual information and preventative
steps to arm themselves to potential health hazards.

The most important thing anyone can do to protect themselves is simple and basic.

Universal Standard Health Precautions:

#1. Wash hands prior to any activities.
#2. Don't touch any contaminated objects or persons.
#3. Cover mouth when coughing
#4. If you know you are sick Don't infect your co workers
#5. Seek immediate medical attention if you are sick.
